This airport is one of China's major airline hubs and is the 3rd busiest airport in China in terms of passengers with nearly 32 million passengers passing through here in 2009. It is also a major cargo hub. The airport is located 30Km from the city centre and is connected to the city by a high speed maglev railway.

The airport has two terminals with 33 airlines operating out of Terminal 2.

Air China offer a comprehensive range of flights to domestic destinations as do China Eastern Airline, China Southern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines.

Internationally flights operate worldwide to Asia, Europe, USA and Australia and many major international carriers operate routes to this airport.
